Paris

Challenge

Presenting as one of our flagship hotel installation projects, our installation services provided to Yotel featured a number of challenges, solutions and next-level experience for our teams.

During the Spring Yotel contacted Johnsons with the specification of installing its hotel at the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with state-of-the-art soft furnishings and accessories. The challenges began with the items being transferred from a factory in China, meaning we were required to:

Control the booking and delivery process of containers

Take delivery of flat-packed furniture and goods at local maritime ports

Manage loading procedures and transportation of the sea shipments

Liaise with customs personnel and account for completion of consignment paperwork

Provide a complete stock check by cross-referencing order forms with delivery notes

Present and provide a storage solution for the delivered goods for 7-14 days prior to installation

Negotiate a strict delivery schedule from the storage depot to the Airport

Solution

To manage this task, our Head of Installations made his way to Paris to oversee the planning and delivery strategy. By consulting with the furniture manufacturers to ensure their consignments were loaded to capacity, a reduction in the amount of containers received at the ports by our teams meant faster unloading and distribution times and made for an easier stock-check format.

Having held the goods until distribution was required at the Airport, we placed one Installation Supervisor at the warehouse and another at the Airport to maintain control of the delivery and receipt of items. Each consignment was signed out of the warehouse with a complete inventory and signed in and cross-checked at the Airport, leaving no margin for stock-count errors. Guiding the goods through Charles de Gaulle was lead by our Specialist Delivery Manager, ensuring each individual item was cleared and sent through to the Installation Teams based at the hotel, situated in the transit area of Terminal 2E at the end of the Instant Paris Lounge.

Result

From this point our installation teams built the innards of both family and premium guestrooms, ensuring we delivered Yotel with a seamless provision of amenities to provide their guests with somewhere to work, relax, sleep and refresh before jet-setting off their next destination.
